Electrical Fire Near Flah's Back Entrance
March 24, 1983 (Thursday)
An electrician was working in the mall electrical room near Flah's back entrance to the parking lot when an electric box caught fire. The work was to manage lighting in the parking lot. Thick smoke filled the area including the Flah's store and one garment from Flah's may have caught fire. Several mall stores were without power. This seemed to primarily impact stores on the "east" side (back of the mall closest to Taurus Road). Some took until Saturday, March 26, 1983 for power to be restored.
Stores affected included but were not limited:
- Brooks Fashions
- Friendly's
- Gallenkamp Shoes
- Household Finance
- Liberty Travel
- Our Pets
- Schatz Stationery
- State Optical

March 26, 1983 (Saturday)
